No Tricks, Just Treats!

Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party Returns!

MNSSHP Boo To You Parade

It may only be August but spooky season has arrived at Disney World! With pumpkins and all the fall decor already happening in the Magic Kingdom, we are ready to kick off the Halloween season! Not that we need reminding but it has been two years since we all were able to enjoy Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP). But that has changed as the special ticketed event is officially back! Making its return this past weekend, August 12th. I think I speak for everyone when I say FINALLY! We have our Boo to you parade, villain meet and greets and a lot of new fun seasonal treats to try.

MNSSHP is a special ticketed event that will be held on select dates between August 12th - October 31st. A ticketed event means you must purchase a ticket outside of the normal admission ticket to the park in order to attend. A good way to save some money would be to forgo a park ticket for the day of the party and just attend MNSSHP for the evening. The event is from 7 PM to midnight with entry as early as 4 PM. That’s still 8 hours in the park!!! Plenty of time to knock out some rides before the party even begins. Since this is a ticketed event, all other guests not attending MNSSHP must leave Magic Kingdom by 6 PM on the days of the event.

So, how much is a ticket to MNSSHP? The cost of this event can vary between $109-$199 per person. The closer you are to Halloween the more costly this will be. Is that price tag worth it? This answer is going to vary on your personal preference. For us, being able to dress up as our favorite Disney character, walk around magic kingdom seeing rare characters that aren’t usually available during a regular visit, can definitely make the price tag worth it. There are also special merchandise and snacks that are only available during the party that may make that kind of exclusivity worth it for you. Not to mention, it’s the only time you get to see the Sanderson sisters on stage as well as the Halloween themed firework show. Another big draw is that because it’s a special ticket event, there are only limited amount of tickets being sold for each evening of the party. And that means less wait times for rides and smaller overall crowds..

The party runs from 7PM to Midnight. During those hours, you can hop on a ton of rides. Here are the attractions that will be open:

Adventureland

  • Swiss Family Treehouse

  • The Magic Carpets of Aladdin

  • Pirates of the Caribbean

Frontierland

  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

  • Splash Mountain

Liberty Square

  • Haunted Mansion

All attractions offered at the event are subject to change, so keep that in mind!

Now let’s talk about this past weekend with the return of this special event. Unfortunately, the first night of MNSSHP’s return did not go as planned as it was rained out with a lot of storms that caused a downpour through the parks. This caused A LOT of delays and cancellations in the shows and attractions. But we want to share a very big tip if this happens to you. Don’t fret if you are at Disney during one of their special ticketed events and it gets rained out with rides down, shows are canceled or delayed and your kiddos are just miserable…head over to guest services and simply request a refund. While this isn’t guaranteed, Disney may be willing to give out rainy day refunds when it comes to these sorts of circumstances. Also keep in mind, that this may be a bit of a wait. We waited about 30 to 45 minutes to get our refund. Which, for a family of 4, was definitely worth it.

Even with a rough start, we are excited and welcome MNSSHP back with open arms! If you and your family are interested in attending this event, please get with your NTA agent about adding it to your vacation package today! Don’t have a vacation planned yet, let’s change that. Send an email to info@travelnta.com.

See ya real soon!
